3 YEARS LATER
The charge on this unit last for more than 3 days. It has been flawless and saved me a couple of times. Today I had to call support because I had hit a combination of buttons and got things out of sync. A person answered the phone immediately and walked me through fixing the problem in less than 30 seconds. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!
6 Months later: Have had problems with leaks from rear wheels. Leaks were always caused by elbows or extensions, never the sensors themselves. Finally found the replacement valve stems that fit the Sprinter 3500 rear wheels. A bit pricey but worth every penny. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077V2NZL5/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 TK 9/2019
January 2020: Just completed an 8500 mile trip from MA to CA and return. Lost a valve stem on a front wheel in Montgomery AL. A month later in California had a leaking valve stem on an inner dually that had rubbed against a wheel cover and cut through the steel stem. I had the tire shop remove all valve stems and installed OE style stems with no sensors. I've now ordered internal sensors from the company that attach with bands around the wheel. I'll give an update after installing them. I am also removing all wheel covers and painting wheels.
February 2020
Received and installed internal sensors on bands. One sensor was bad. Called support and they sent another out that day. The second one was bad also and support sent out another with 2 day shipping. Third sensor programmed and worked perfectly. Painted my wheels and front hub caps. Valve stems on rear wheels now accessible. Nice to have the noisy troublesome wheel covers gone. Again can't say enough for support.
December 2021
Not a single problem since installing the internal sensors and I don't miss those noisy wheel covers!
November 2022 No problems!
March 2023 Working perfectly!
This tire pressure monitoring system is terrific! I have it on my RV and it works really well, letting me know the tire pressure and temperature in each tire. Installation and setup were a breeze. Customer support is excellent and only a phone call away (thank you Dion!). The flow through sensor work great on the rear duals that have stationary valve stem extenders. For the front, I had to swap the flow through for the regular. Again, Dion was terrific, effecting the swap in no time at all, and then giving me guidance over the phone to get them programmed in. It took all of 5 minutes and the system works great!
Updated 2019 Review:
After having used this TPMS for over a year, I have removed it and installed an inside the wheel TPMS. The Tire-Safeguard sensors screw onto the end of the valve stem, and are subject to tremendous centrifugal force that deform the valve stem. The result has been four flat tires as I've been driving down the road. After the last one, I removed the screw on sensors and decided to go with a more expensive, but way more safe TPMS, where the sensors are mounted inside the rim. Beware of any TPMS where the sensors mount on the outside end of the valve stem...you likely will end up with leaks and flats...at least the sensors will tell you a flat tire is coming...but you may be doing 65 down the freeway when that happens!
Update: (November 2019) after a 9,500 mile trip across the USA in 90 days, I can honestly say they work. Sometimes the insides don’t read... not sure why, I replaced the battery’s for them also. Still running original batteries in the fronts and outside rear I think. Sooooo yeah, I think it ranks high up on the tpms systems scale. So now, the second thing to think about... the weight of the sensors... I think I’m getting slow leaks that are because of the loosing of the valve stems from the motion of the wheel. I actually have proof on my rear alcoa, you can see where the sensor has rubbed the wheel. When it still it’s about 1/2” away so the movement has it shaking and hitting. Not sure what to do other than installing inside the rim mounted tpm systems. Maybe the non flow through models would be lighter??
ALSO! Sometimes the red light comes on and says the tire temperature is something like 258 degrees! It never is. Maybe happened 3 or 4 times. So it’s a random time it jumps to the highest temp. All other times it reads very accurate.
